Jérôme Borel, le Sac, acrylique sur toile, 94x180cm, 2015

Solo-show Jérôme Borel

Galerie Mathias Coullaud is pleased to present for the first time 10 unpublished works by Jérôme Borel at Art Paris Art Fair at the Grand Palais from 30 March to 2 April 2017. This presentation follows the success of the exhibition "Jérôme Borel, peintre français ?" in September and October 2016.

Born in Gap in 1958, Jérôme Borel decides to make painting his main activity from the age of 16 years. Self-taught, he was supported by the Prix Hors les Murs of Villa Médicis in 1990, to participate in a collective project in Djibouti. Then he moved to South Africa in 1995 with the help of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In 1997, he joined the French Institute of Thessaloniki to pursue his work, begun in Africa.

After designing and carrying out several public commissions such as murals, he took part in numerous collective exhibitions, such as "De Vrais et faux" at the Pavillon de Pantin in 2015. Finally, in 2016, Gallery Mathias Coullaud puts him in the spotlight with the exhibition "Jérôme Borel, French painter? ", leading to the acquisition of a work by the Société Générale collection.
